Gather with me for a private PICKLING class.

Saturday, August 9th at 10am – 2pm

Nutritious lunch included + all materials ( you get 2 jars of pickles to take home )

Workshop is 4 hours – $59 + hst

This workshop focuses on teaching you the process of preserving cucumbers using salt -based brines to encourage lacto-fermentation.

Lacto fermentation refers to the lactic acid that the yeast and bacteria, which live on your veg create when they ferment. These microbes, whose job is to protect the vegetable from mould and pests, are the basis of many vegetable ferments that people have been making for thousands of years. Because when these microbes are introduced to a brine, they proceed to ferment both the brine and their host vegetable into a safe, pickled food, which contain millions of good bacteria.

This workshop will cover pickling methods , including quick pickling and fermentation of beets and sauerkraut.

Participants will learn about ingredient selection and brine preparation
